Blessed Mabon or Autumn Equinox to you and yours. For this Celtic cycle we’d like to announce the launch of our new "Sleeping Draught" category. It's a wonderful collection of Evening and Sleep meditations that includes everything from sleeping courses to hypnotic lullabys to evening walks. We hope you enjoy it. We've also added a new walking meditation to our Elixirs, new Goddess meditations, as well as a brand new introduction and instruction section.
Mabon Festival: Once again the day and night are of equal length as we celebrate this quarter festival. The harvest goes on, often racing against the weather. Plants begin to lay down their own seeds in the fertile soil ready for the coming growing season when the wheel turns once more.
This is a busy time of year as the collecting of crops is in full swing. Anything rotten or not needed is discarded to make way for the new harvest.
Our ancient ancestor’s whole community would be busy working together to ensure the best chance of surviving the coming winter.
Now’s the time to cast your eye’s back over the past year and to evaluate how you’ve done. Look closely at your life and see what needs to be shifted in advance of the winter ahead. Balance your life as best you can and lay down some reserves of energy to see you through. The time to rest is approaching but we are not quite there yet.
Sleeping Draughts: Sleeping Draughts are magical potions that cause the drinker to fall almost instantaneously into a deep but temporary sleep and enjoy a state of true bliss. Our collection of Sleeping Draughts will help you melt into whatever kind of rest you desire, be they Power Naps, Lucid Dreams, Evening wind-downs or Delta Sleep.
This year astrologically the autumn Equinox fell upon the 23rd of September, bringing with it longer nights and the gradual shift towards winter. Leaves fall, berries and nuts come to fruition and across the Irish Sea in Avalon it is apple time. The name Avalon, the British otherworld is said to be geographically in Glastonbury, and comes from the word for apple, which in the Celtic tradition symbolises the wholeness and healing of the soul, the sensual delight of being alive, of the human lived experience, without shame or sorrow.
It is said to be a place where nine priestesses dwell, attending to a great otherworldly cauldron, symbolising the goddess of the land, who goes by many names, yet there is also a god of Avalon, Avalloc, god of healing and sensual renewal, who is its guardian and keeper, and father of the famous enchantress Morgan le Fay, who is featured in the Sorceress meditation in the goddess section of Celtic Whispers..

Named after the Celtic God; Mabon, Son of the Earth Goddess. Night and day are again of equal length and in perfect equilibrium. We can use this special time of crossing over the seasons to reflect on what we have learnt as we let go of our troubles like the trees releasing their golden leaves. Welcome to the Autumn Equinox or Mabon.
The clocks haven’t yet gone back and the leaves are still on the trees but there is definitely a change in the light. The Autumn colours frame garden colours beautifully as we watch the gradual transformation through the season from lush, green foliage to the beautiful browns, reds and ochres of falling leaves. Mabon evenings around a firepit or garden heater can be magically transformed into a night time fiesta, all we need is good company, seductive lighting and a little imagination.
Poshmark: Every second, the equivalent of a garbage truck full of clothes goes into a landfill or incinerator, according to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Stem the tide, save money, and look sharp by shopping secondhand.
The Hidden Spirituality of Men by Matthew Fox. It is no secret that men are in trouble today. From war to ecological collapse, most of the world’s critical problems stem from a distorted masculinity out of control. To awaken what Fox calls “The Sacred Masculine,” he unearths ten Archetypes ranging from the Green Man, an ancient pagan symbol of our fundamental relationship with nature, to the Grandfatherly Heart to the Spiritual Warrior. By stirring our natural yearning for healthy spirituality, these timeless archetypes can inspire men to pursue their higher calling to reinvent the world.
Plastic Planet: In this 2009 movie Werner Boote presents an up-close and personal view of the controversial and fascinating material that has found its way into every facet of our daily lives: plastic. He takes us on a journey around the globe, showing that plastics have become a threat for both environment and human health. Ten days after watching Plastic Planet at MEIFF, Abu Dhabi officials banned plastic bags in UAE, a policy which started in 2013.
Mark Manning. Mark plays the voice of Amergin the Bard in Celtic Whispers. He is an experienced and skilled voiceover artist who has worked on many projects including the History Show on Irish Radio. His versatility makes him a great asset to ‘Celtic Whispers’, as our content often calls for readings in different accents and styles and he is an invaluable asset to the team.
Cheap Food comes at a Price. Cheap food is cheap because it is produced as an industrial commodity. The insatiable demand from consumers for cheap food is bad for animal welfare standards, bad for farmers and food producers who don't get a paid a fair price, bad for our health (look at the ingredients lists), and bad for the environment. Pay more for better quality food, and eat less but better quality animal protein. Remember you are what you eat! .
If you like the artwork and style of Celtic Whisper’s we also offer our designs on physical products as well. We invite you to visit our shop and see if any of our Celtic Designs would look good on a t-shirt, mug or sticker.
In terms of life path Mabon is the moment of reaping what you have sown, a time to look at the hopes and aspirations of Imbolc and Ostara and reflect on how they have manifested. It is time to complete projects, and to let go that which is no longer wanted or needed so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and peace. Whatever the season of Mabon holds; be Calm and Mindful of your duty as a Celt to protect your family and your tribe, to honour the Elders and our home the Earth. We hope as modern Celts to play our part in fulfilling the Prophecy of the Rainbow, for to be a Celt is to be a Warrior of the Rainbow. Slán agus Beannacht!
